She-Coronavirus: How cartoonists reflected women health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic

Women account for 70% of healthcare workers, so their role has been – and still is fundamental in addressing managing the current pandemic event caused by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Far from being an opportunity to highlight importance women field, crisis, together with lockdown policies care responsibilities, have contributed increase gender gap. To study depiction professionals, this paper analyses 401 cartoons on COVID-19 that depict workers. Most represent doctors as men nurses women, roles subordinate men. The representation also impacted stereotypes do not contribute better reflect professional skills field today.
